Hvar, a popular island in Croatia, had been on my list for years, and I was thrilled to finally experience it. The water is bright clear turquoise, enjoyed from boats, exploring the surrounding areas. I also saw Split being visiting Krka National Park.

Hvar

Staying on Hvar was such a lovely couple of days. We had an appartment in Hvar Town, a few minutes from the town square. Hvar Town’s square and many winding streets are beautiful. The buildings are gorgeous pale cream stone. Both in sunshine and in evening night, the town and harbour are idyllic.

I love water, so on the first full day, we hired a boat and set off to sail around a few of the neighbouring islands. We lay in the sun on the boat, swam and watched fish swim by.

After returning the boat, we enjoyed sunset drinks near the harbour.

The following day we went out on a boat trip with a skipper, exploring further and getting to enter a cave. We also had a stop for lunch on another island.

The following day we walked up to Hvar Fortress.

Split

We spent an evening and morning in Split, on mainland Croatia, before heading north. Despite our limited time in Split, we saw some of the sites and had some great food!

Krka National Park

We stopped at Krka National Park on the way to north to Slovenia. Wooden paths take you round the park, past and over blue-green bodies of water with fish and other wildlife. When we visted swimming in a main pool was allowed.
