Our animal friends are fantastic; we are lucky to know them and share our homes with them. Thank you to O, who is the most wonderful friend.

O is a calm, curious and kind older tabby cat, who I am fortunate to live with. He loves exploring the garden, enjoying the sun, cuddles, curling up for a good snooze and, maybe most of all; eating! He enjoys his food, as well as ‘human’ food, including thai green curry and porridge. He joins us for film night, so he can eat the popcorn! He always wants to know what we are having and tries to have a taste!

I say he is kind, in part because he knows when it is a bad day or EDS-y day, and cuddles up even closer. He was rescued in 2019, prior to my diagnoses, and has been ‘there’ through it all.

O knows about illhealth. He almost died in 2019, when a member of the public spotted him, and he ended up at the shelter. His abdomen was distended and he needed fluid drained. Investigations showed that he had Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM); a heart disease. His heart was enlarged. He was stabalised with medication, which he needs to have three times a day, everyday for the rest of his life.

I am so grateful to the shleter for saving him, and that we found him.

Thank you to O, who is the most wonderful friend.
